Mount McKinley (Denali) is the highest mountain in North America, the tallest mountain in North America (and the world) is actually Mauna Kea in Hawaii (at 33,465 ft). Mauna Kea actually stands at 4,205 m (13,796 ft) above sea level and therefore is not the highest mountain in the world as most of it is covered by the sea. Mt. McKinley is the highest mountain in America (Alaska) standing at 20,320 feet (6,194 m) above sea level. However in the northern territories Mt. Whitney stands the tallest at 14,505 feet (4,421 m) above sea level.
