There is nothing particular that can be said about them.

y = 1 - 4x

and y = (x - 4)2/16

have an x-intercept at (0, 4)

and a y-intercept at (1, 0).

But, apart from at these two points, the two behave quite independently.

There is some similarity in the form of the equations but that can be "fixed" by picking more complicated equations.

When two slopes are equal they are?

There are two possibilities. If the y intercepts are unique, the lines are parallel. If the y intercepts are the same, the lines are coincident. ( They are the same line)

Which of these are characteristics of two lines that coincide?

Same slope and intercepts

Is two distinct lines with same x intercept parallel?

No. In order to be parallel, two lines would have to have the same slope, and different intercepts. Why? Two lines with different slopes, but the same intercepts would result in two intersecting lines. Two lines with the same slope, and the same intercept would result in the same line. Two lines with the same slope, and different intercepts would be parallel.

Are two lines that do not intersect and have the same slope?

They are parallel lines which have the same slope but different y intercepts.

These are two lines that do not intersect and have the same slope?

They are parallel lines which have the same slope but different y intercepts.

If two lines have the same slope they are parallel.?

That is correct and they will have different y intercepts

How do you use the slopes and y-intercepts to determine if two lines coincide or are parallel?

If the slopes are different the lines are neither - they intersect. They are parallel or coincident if the slopes are the same. Then, if the y-intercepts are the same they are coincident while if the y-intercepts are different, they are parallel.

Two lines are parallel if and only if their slopes are?

When their slopes are of the same value and their y intercepts are different

Lines with the same slope are?

Lines with the same slope but with different y intercepts are parallel.

What lines have the same slope and different y-intercepts?

Parallel lines

Are two lines with the same slope and different y-intercept perpendiculars?

No because two lines with the same slope but with different y intercepts are parallel lines. Perpendicular lines meet each other at right angles.
