Ireland does have large areas of relatively flat land, which would be the closest thing to the common idea of plains. Much of that land is farmland and as such would be fenced, walled or separated by trees or hedgerows in parts.
Pampas is a plural proper noun referring to the region of grassy plains in northern Argentina; use it the same way you would use "Great Plains." In a sentence, one might say:"The Pampas include thousands of square miles of land in Argentina."or"Gee, that was a fun vacation we took to the Pampas."

The "Long Drive" cowboys from Texas (White, Black, and Mexican) would travel across the plains that had no fences. But when land owners started to put fencing around their property, the cowboys lost money until later in the 1900's when someone made a trail for the cowboys to follow to the railroads.
Flat lands are also called plains in general.
Meanders are formed in plains regions--or, more exactly, gently sloping, fairly flat areas.
