Is the alternator a known good one? You could have a bad rectifier in your alternator causing a short to ground when it is installed.
Remove the wiring harness from the back of your 1993 VW Jetta alternator. Remove the three alternator retaining bolts. Remove the alternator belt. Reverse the process to install your new alternator.

On the 1995 Saturn SL1 The oil pressure sending unit is the sensor closest to the alternator. The unit is on the back of the block.
Disconnect the battery. Remove the alternator belt. Disconnect the wiring on the alternator, then unbolt and remove the unit. Bolt the new alternator in place and connect the wiring. Install the belt and connect the battery back up.

No probes have come back from Saturn.
You have to take off the alternator to be able to reach the fan . After you should oiul the belt to slip on the fan very easy . Put the alternator back on and your ready to go .

the oil pressure switch is located on the back of the engine block closest to the alternator. it has a single Tan wire running to it, and a Grey connector.
you can see it from the passenger side under the hood find the power steering pump at the back by the fire-wall you'll see the pulley that is attached to the steering pump, then look just to the right and straight down looks like a fan pulley that is your Alternator
