Any acid with a concentration of H+ of 1 mol/litre. The way pH (power of Hydrogen) is measured is by taking the log base 10 of the concentration of Hydrogen ions, and then negating that number.

As would be expected, to find the concentration of H+ ions when we're given the pH, we first negate our pH then do ten to the power of that number.

10^(-1*(0)) = 10^0 = 1 .: our concentration of H+ is 1 mol/litre.

For strong acids, this would also imply that the acid concentration is 1 mol/litre. If you're dealing with a weak acid, then you need to take into account the coefficient of dissociation.

A pH of zero means that the concentration of H3O+ in the solution is 1 molar because the pH is defined as

pH = -log10[H3O+].

When the concentration of H3O+ is equal to 1 M, the negative log base ten of 1 is equal to zero.

Any solution of a strong acid with a concentration of 1 molar will have a pH almost equal to zero (because conc. of H2O also effects bit) . pH can in fact go beyond 0... it can be negative! A 5 M solution of HCl will have a pH ~ -0.70!

The pH is defined as: The negative logarithim to base 10 of the hydrogen ion concentration.

So 0.001 molar would be 10-3 moles so - log10 [10-3] = 3 = pH 3

0.01 molar = pH 2

0.1 molar = pH 1

and 1 molar = pH 0

So there are 1 mole of Hydrogen ions and thus 6.022 x 1023 hydrogen ions.

The pH scale is between 0 and 14 but a pH under 0 is possible for some strong acids.

What pH level is acidic?

From pH 6 - pH 0. pH 0 being the most acidic.

How do you test pH levels of household items?

Find some pH indicator strips. Dip a strip in your item and the color will tell you the approximate pH. These strips can be found at laboratory stockrooms in schools or online.

What does 0-6 represnt on the pH scale?

It is the strong (pH=0) to weakly (pH=6) acid part of the pH scale.7 is neutral.

Why pH fall in between 0-14?

PH can be less than 0 and it can be more than 14. PH is -log of (H ) concentration. According to this the PH Of 1 M strong acid such as Hcl would be 0. similarly ... 10 M = pH -1 0.1 M = pH 1 0.01M = PH 2 0.001M = PH 3 0.0001M = PH 4 The pH scale is between 0-14 because the solution with which we generally encounter is in 0-14 range.

What are items that have a pH value?

Any solution - aliquid with a solid or gas dissolved in it - can have a pH.

Why do stomach acids have a low pH level?

The lower a pH level is, the more acidic it is. The acid in your stomach, hydrochloric, is very acidic, and can even burn through some items.

What is a neutral pH mean?

The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14 such that something with a pH of 0 is extremely acidic and something with a pH of 14 is extremely basic. A neutral pH is in the middle and has a pH of 7. An example of something with a pH of 7 is rain water.

What is the range of pH?

The range of pH values is 0 - 14.
