The "mean" is the "average" you're used to, where you add up all the numbers and then divide by the number of numbers. The "median" is the "middle" value in the list of numbers. To find the median, your numbers have to be listed in numerical order, so you may have to rewrite your list first. The "mode" is the value that occurs most often. If no number is repeated, then there is no mode for the list.

Mean is when you add all the values and divide by the number of values. A mean is an average to use in making some very general inferences about the sample and population data.

eg:

If i have the times 6 secs (1st go) and 9 secs (second go), and i want to work out my average time, then what i would do is:

first add 6 by 9 which is 15;

then divide it by amount of times - in this case, 2 sets of times.

15/2= 7.5 secs

so my average mean time is 7.5secs
