In the UK, a Vet Med Bsc is for 4-5 years, depending on which university you go to, and if you decide to specialise within the subject. After graduation from this, you are able to practice as a veterinary surgeon. If you wish to specialize, you may have to complete more years of college training in an internship then residency program.
In the United States, you need to complete at least three years of undergraduate college - four is more common - plus another four years of vet school. If you want to become board-certified in surgery, you will then go on to complete a one year internship and a 3-5 year (or more, depending upon the program) residency.
Veterinarians must have a degree in veterinary medicine; in the United States, this is a DVM or VMD degree. Previous experience isn't necessary, although most veterinarians have worked as kennel assistants, vet assistants or lay vet techs prior to becoming veterinarians.
To become a qualified veterinarian you need a university degree in Veterinary Medicine. This may sound relatively simple but I've heard that getting a place on the course is very difficult!
You should take some biology, chemistry, zoology or veterinary medicine
