The formula is =NOW(). Ensure you format the cell to display the date format you want.
The format is actually called Number format. It defaults to two decimal places. However, in all cases where you have the same number of decimal places, any of the number formats will align the decimal point vertically. Both Currency and Accounting will also use two decimal places as the default.
