One can define an infinite number of fractions to successively approximate pi, and get closer and closer to pi's value. There is no closest fraction to pi. No matter how close the fraction is to pi you can always find one that is closer

Yup, that said some popular fraction approximations for pi are 3/1 or 3 (favoured by engineers), 22/7, and 355/113, and for tau respectively it's 6 like how a full circle isn't far off from the hexagonal perimeter of 6 radiuses, and then 44/7, and 710/113
