What would have happened if Americans had lost the battle of saratoga?

If the British won the Battle of Saratoga America might not have become a country as soon as it had or at all for all we know. The Battle of Saratoga was the turning point of the American Revolutionary War. It showed the rest of the world that America just might have had what it took to defeat the most powerful country in the world. It is what convinced France to join America's fight against the British. French forces stopped General Cornwalis as he escaped from Yorktown, which is where the British surrender, ending the war for independence.

The US would have lost the war ---> the battle was the turning point in the war and the battle that alerted the French that the Revolutionary War wasn't a lost cause. They sent help, namely naval help, that helped the US triumph over the British.

I hate to burst your bubble, but Britain DID win the War of 1812. The war started because America wanted the British to stop pressing American sailors into service in the Royal Navy. By the end of the war, Britain was STILL pressing American sailors into service, Britain and Canada had kicked the American forces out of Canada, we'd burned the White House to the ground, and marched from the Canadian border to the Gulf of Mexico. Not to mention we blockaded all the major American harbours. The war was nothing to do with Britain even trying to take over the world. Britain achieved it's strategic objectives (continuing to press US sailors into service and kicking American forces out of Canada)...America failed theirs (invading Canada and stopping the pressing into service of their sailors)...

Actually no one did win the war. It is called the war that no one won because no side came out with anything more than they previously had. Britain was on defense in this war. And they did not march to the Gulf of Mexico, otherwise they would have all that land in between Canada and the Gulf which was not true. America defeated the Royal Navy several times, the world's most powerful navy at the time (and America only had 16 ships with ill trained men.) And we killed 2,000 British at the Battle of New Orleans (even though that battle was completely unnecessary.) After the war was over, everything was back to the way it was strictly before the war, so it was like nothing had even happened. Yes you burned DC to the ground, but we rebuilt it better than ever and you did not succeed in killing the president. We also destroyed your Native American ally group by defeating their leader. The treaty of ghent, the treaty meant to end the war, settled nothing of the impressing of Americans which means it was a pointless treaty. It did not settle any of the reasons why the war was started. America would have actually won if it was not for Napoleons defeat, and by his defeat Britain was able to send 15,000 troops to Canada completely shutting the Americans out.

If the British had defeated the Colonists at Saratoga, Gen. Cornwallis will be able to attack Washington up north, causing a major defeat for the colonists, making the U.S now as British land.
