Beware, though. Many schools will wrongly want the answer to be 7.95.

They teach that 5 and larger digits should be rounded up while 4 and smaller should be rounded down. That is a simple rule - easy to teach, easy to grasp and apply. Unfortunately, the method creates an upward bias.

The solution, according to the IEEE (Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers) standard 754. is to round 5s up or down so that the new last digit is even.
