Digits
Many people get confused with numbers, and how they are called when they placed with others. Basically, THREE zeros 000 is a thousand. SIX zeros 000,000 is a million. And NINE zeros 000,000,000 is a billion.
1000 million is 1 billion.
one million
In the English-speaking world, a billion is one thousand million. In many languages, that would be called a milliard and a billion would be one thousand milliard.
International commerce has almost universally adopted the "short scale", in which named numbers increase by a factor of one thousand instead of one million. In the "long scale" terms such as "milliard" and "billiard" were used for the intermediate factors of one thousand. Short scale : one billion = one thousand million (109) Long scale : one billion = one million million (1012)trillion
In digits: 1,001,001,001 (Using the accepted "short scale" billion, which equals one thousand million.)
Half of one billion is 500 million. To find half of a number, you simply divide it by 2. In this case, dividing one billion by 2 gives you 500 million. This is because one billion is equal to 1,000 million, so half of that would be 500 million.
Under the current "short scale" of numeration, a "trillion" is one thousand billion or 1012. (The superceded "long scale" used names that increased by a factor of one million, making the old billion 1012 and the old trillion 1018.) So a trillion = one thousand billion or one million million
One billion is equal to 1,000,000,000. It is often represented as 10^9 in scientific notation.
13.1 billion = 13,100,000,000 = thirteen billion one hundred million
one billion/100= $10 million
One million times one thousand equals one billion.
Because in the US it is considered that 1,000 x 1,000 should be called one billion, whereas in the UK it is considered that 1,000 x 1,000 should be called one thousand thousands, and that 1,000 x 1,000 x 1,000 should be called one billion.
