Example:

The tigers football team, cross town rivals, spent 26% of it's 16,000 budget on uniforms. How much did they spend?

This is so easy you will be able to do it in your head when you are done reading this! NO JOKE! I learned this today in math so it is 100% correct.

16,000.00 is there budget so therefore it 100%

What is half of 16,000? 8,000 so it is called 50%. What is 25% of 100= What is ______ % of 16,000.00? Or in other words what is half of 50 or 8,000? 4,000 is correct. Now 10% of 100... 1,600. Half of that is 800 also called 5%. 1% is 160 and half of that is 80 or .5. There, you finished the benchmark percent!

16,000.00-100%

8,000.00- 50%

4,00.00- 25%

1,600.00- 10%

800.00- 5%

160.00- 1%

80.00- .5%

Techniques-

How to get 17%? 10+5+1+1=17

1,600.00- 10%

800.00- 5%

160.00- 1%

160.00- 1% Add that up and you get 3,400.00! It's easy!!! How about getting 45% another way?? 50-5=45

10,000.00= 50%

- 1,000.00+ 5%

_____________

= 9,000.00
