i need to know this information and much more information for school. and i wish you can help me on it. what does a dot diagram show? what are two things a dot diagram must show? how can the group number help in determining the number of valence electrons? what is true for the dot diagram for every element in a group? what is helium's dot diagram? why is helium's dot diagram different? what do electron configurations show? how is the total number of electrons for an aton determined? what do all the number in the electron configuration equal to? why is knowing the period an element is in necessary to write a correct electron configuration? what does the group number tell us about the electron configuration? what are the electron configurations of Lithium (Li), Carbon (C), Magnesium (Mg), Silicon (Si), Chlorine (Cl), Potassium (K)?

A dot and cross diagram is a simple way to show the bonding in a molecule using dots to represent valence electrons from one atom and crosses to represent valence electrons from another atom. It is created by placing the dots and crosses around the chemical symbols of the atoms involved to indicate the sharing or transfer of electrons in the bonding.

Well you start by drawing the complete atomic number and then you electronically save the configuaration by drawing the full plasto invitro. Then the negative ions are stored so you do that by drawing that as a diagram and then finally you form the atoms as if they are gaining electrons.

Do not need to include ionic charge.

Remember that dots are shared electrons by covalent bonding and crosses are free electrons, only draw the outer electron valence shell.

What is the dot and cross diagram of sodium?

In a dot and cross diagram of sodium (Na), there would be one dot representing the single valence electron of sodium and a cross representing the outer shell of another atom. Sodium typically forms an ionic bond by losing this electron to achieve a stable electron configuration.

Who was the person who created the electron dot diagram?

G.N. Lewis

What is the dot and cross diagram for mercury?

No no no Hg is Mercurys Atomic symbol. Once i find the Lewis Dot diagram for mercury, i shall post it ok?

What is the dot and cross diagram of ethanol?

The dot and cross diagram of ethanol shows the arrangement of atoms and electron pairs in the molecule. In ethanol, C2H5OH, the central carbon atom is bonded to three hydrogen atoms and one hydroxyl group (OH). The dot and cross diagram would depict the sharing of electrons between the atoms to satisfy the octet rule.

Can one have a dot and cross diagram of nitrogen monoxide NO?

Yes, you can create a dot and cross diagram for nitrogen monoxide (NO). In this diagram, nitrogen would have 5 dots representing its 5 valence electrons, while oxygen would have 2 crosses representing its 2 valence electrons. The unpaired electron on nitrogen would be shared with the oxygen atom, forming a single bond between them.

What is the dot and cross diagram for chloroform?

In a dot and cross diagram for chloroform, each chlorine atom will have 7 dots representing its 7 valence electrons, and the carbon atom will have 4 dots. There will be single bonds between the carbon atom and each of the three chlorine atoms. Additionally, there will be two lone pairs on the carbon atom.

What is a good sentence for electron dot diagram?

An electron dot diagram, also known as Lewis dot diagram, uses dots to represent the valence electrons of an atom.

What type of covalent bond diagram only shows the outer shell of electrons?

A Lewis structure or electron dot diagram only shows the outer shell (valence) electrons of atoms participating in covalent bonding. This type of diagram helps visualize how electrons are shared between atoms to form covalent bonds.

What are diagrams?

There are two types of diagrams one is the Lewis diagram the other is the Electron dot diagram. To make the electron dot diagram you put the electron symbol and put a dot on one of the sides for each period (you don't count the middle section.) . . :Ne: = Neon dot diagram ' '
