In terms of the length the sides of a triangle it can be classified into three types:

- if all three sides are equal then the triangle is an equilateral triangle
- if only two sides are equal then the triangle is an isosceles triangle

A triangle with two sides of equal length is an isoscelestriangle.NOTE : A triangle with three equal sides is an equilateral triangle.A triangle with all three sides of different lengths is a scalene triangle.

A triangle, by definition, has three sides. A polygon with five sides is called a pentagon.

All three sides (and therefore angles) in an equilateral triangle are the same measure. All three sides (and therefore angles) in a scalene triangle are different.

A scalene triangle has three unequal sides, an equilateral triangle has three equal sides. An isosceles triangle has two equal sides. Because with a scalene triangle only two sides are equal but with a equilateral triangle that would mean all sides are equal. (scalene = 2 sides & equilateral = all sides equal)

A scalene triangle is a triangle that has three unequal sides. Here are some examples of scalene triangles: http://mathworld.wolfram.com/ScaleneTriangle.htmlAll sides are different in measure, all angles are different

All triangles have three sides."Tri-angle" means "three angles," and if a shape has three angles, then it also has three sides. A triangle with three sides of the same length is called an "equilateral" or "regular" triangle, one with only two equal sides is "isosceles," and one with three sides of different lengths is called "scalene."
