A gram is a base unit at 10 to the 0 power while deka is 10 to the first power or 100 in exponential notation. (meaning ten) So a dekagram is bigger then a gram.
Deka and hexa are numerical prefixes. Deka means ten. So, when used like dekameter it means a length equal to 10 meters. Hexa means six and is seen most often in geometry. For example, a hexagon is a figure with six sides.
1 kilo- is 9 "dekas" larger than a deka-. (In other words, 10 x deka- = kilo-)
