Misalignment of the foot and overpronation are the leading causes of knee pain. These can lead to osteoarthritis or torn ligaments.
Birkenstocks can provide some arch support which may help with overpronation to a certain extent. However, for more severe cases of overpronation, it is recommended to use orthotic inserts or custom-made orthotics that offer more targeted support.
Any online retail store should have overpronation running shoes in stock, whether or not they are new, used, collectible, or validated in acceptance by trade.

After doing much research on this topic, both online and by speaking with several doctors and chiropractors, I have reached the conclusion that overpronators are not supposed to wear sandals. All 4 doctors I spoke with and everything I have located on the Internet claims that it is best for overpronators to stick with athletic shoes.
If it is a brand, it should have a website (unless it is a poor brand). If it is a type, other shoe brand websites should have stock of the shoe type.
I injured my 2nd metatarsophalangeal joint at age 13, had surgery one year later. The area was left numb, tingling, burning and area swolen and red (that was 45 yrs ago). The toe stuck up for years and only recently has come down. My pad or ball of foot has fallen. I wore custom made orthotics for years and it helped with the pain and overpronation of the foot and limp. I was to have more surgery on it 20 years ago and never did. I stopped wearing orthotics due to poverty. I now walk with a very pronounced limp, a chronic painful foot, numbness, burning, swelling, achilles tendonosis, over pronation of foot, shin pain and calf pain. My other foot has compensated for this deformity and over the years is now over pronating. Causes a multitude of problems...hip, knee, and back pain due to the misalignment of the feet when walking. Have the surgery to correct it!
yes, yes, I am 59, me too. Am doing physio and wearing arch supports first though
