it is nine pints
9 pints is GREATER than 5 Litres, but only by a little.

If 1 pint = 0.564 litres,

then 9 pints = 9*0.564 = 5.076

There for 5.076 > 5.000 .

Hence 9 pints is greater than 5 litres.

There are three different kinds of pints, but a Liter (or Litre) is bigger than all of them.

The US has two types of pints:

In most cases you will be dealing with liquids.

1 Liter ≈ 2.11 US liquid pints (1 US liquid pint ≈ 473 mL)

1 Liter ≈ 1.82 US dry pints (1 US dry pint ≈ 551 mL)

Using the UK sizes for pints you get the following:

1 Litre ≈ 1.76 UK Pints (1 UK pint ≈ 568 mL)

Note the spelling is 'Litre' in the UK and 'Liter' in the USA.
