Why is Archimedes' principle important?

Archimedes contributed the theory of buoyancy, which is significant because it allows us to measure an object's weight by its displacement in water, density, displacement, and the buoyancy of the liquid in which the object is acting.

What scientific rule states that the buoyant force on an object is equal to the weight of the fluid displacement the object?

Archimedes's principle.

What did Archimedes do to discover buoyancy?

Legend says that Archimedes discovered the principle of displacement while stepping into a full bath. He realized that the water that ran over equaled in volume the submerged part of his body. Through further experiments, he deduced the above mentioned Archimedes' principle.
