1960 cars are not as modernized and they are more manual In the 60's cars had points and had to be set at certain distance in mm's or 1000's of an inch. They also had a little steel barrel inside the distributor that grounded out the electric, while the coil was building up for the next firing. (I forget the name of it) It was usually bought along with the points. Todays cars are much lighter, have higher compression readings, and many sensors that feed thru to the on board diagnostics system, and produce trouble codes that can be easily read with a code scanner. They also have engine lights (Malfunction indicator lights) that tell you when a problem exists, and that you should check the trouble code.
