A qualitative datum is one that is expressed as some quality/property of a particular entity, rather than a numerical value.
Conversely, a quantitative datum is one that is expressed as a quantity (or number), as opposed to a quality of a particular entity.
Hence, qualitative and quantitative data are essentially opposite data types.

∙ 13y agoImagine you found a whale with many cuts. Qualitive data would be a description of the whale's general health. Quantitive data would be counting how many cuts the whale has, measuring how deep and long the wounds are. Quantitative = measurement or count
Qualitative = an impression, a description, a comparison (no numbers)
