The surface area of a (circular) cylinder is the circumference of the circle times the height

If you need to add the surface of the ends then add twice the area of the end circles.

Given r as the radius of the (circular) cylinder and h as the height, the area A is:

(2*pi*r*h) + (2*pi*r2)*2 = A

What is the formula for total surface area of cylinder?

You need the surface area of then ends and those are circles so Pixr2 and there are 2 of them. Now you see the sides and that is 2Pirxh. Add these together and you have the surface area of the cylinder. Surface Area of a Cylinder = 2 pi r2 + 2 pi r h

What is the formula for area for a cylinder?

The formula for the volume of a cylinder is pi times the radius squared times the height. An easy way to remember the formula is that it is equal to the area of the circle times the height.

What are cubic inches in an engine?

Cubic inches is the total volume of all cylinders. If you wanted to know the cubic inches of a particular engine you would measure the diameter of the cylinder bore and the stroke of the crankshaft, then use your calculator to figure out the total volume. The formula for the area of a circle is pi times the radius squared. The formula for the volume of a cylinder is area of the circle times length (stroke) of the cylinder. Once you have the volume of the cylinder you can multiply that number by the number of cylinders for total volume (displacement).

What is the formula for the area of a circle and the volume of a cylinder are related?

The formula for area of a circle is radius squared times pi. The formula for volume of a cylinder is radius squared times pi times height.
