2 meg ohms, 2,000,000 ohms to ground.
1 meg ohms.
R = U/I (Ohm's law)
R = Insulation resistance.
U = Test votage. Value depending on motor rated voltage.
I = Measured current
As per AS3000 wiring rules its no less then 1 mega ohm
your ideal reading should be infinite
(Rated voltage + 1 ) mega ohm
ex- voltage-415v
then rated voltage is 0.415+1 megaohm
its mean 1.415 megaohm
12mohm
Insulation resistance test: This test is used to find the insulation resistance of motor for 1 min or 10 min through high voltage insulation tester. By this we can find the insulation level. Polarization index: This is the ratio between insulation resistance for 10 min to insulation resistance for 1 min.

I think the resistance value of starting winding is less than the running winding of the single phase motor
A major cause is overheating. The resistance of insulating materials generally falls with an increase in temperature, so excessive temperatures can cause insulation failure. This is often brought about by the motor being continuously overloaded, or its ventilation orifices becoming blocked.
It depends on the insulation provided in winding, motor can safely run on full load current. and over that it may burn but depends on cooling system of the motor. Motor can burn if insulation fails, failure of insulation depends on only the temperature rise.

You can increase the insulation resistance of a motor by keeping it dry. moisture makes the IR drop. If possible to dismantle, try to re-varnish the winding and dry it inside a furnace or oven for at least 24 hours.
Insulation resistance should be approximately one megohm for each 1,000 volts of operating voltage, with a minimum value of one megohm. For example, a motor rated at 2,400 volts should have a minimum insulation resistance of 2.4 megohms.
we will get its insulation resistance value wchich should be greater than 200Mohms
in order to avoid unwanted short circuit break downs.... short circuit can burn the transformer and motor winding.... Megger is the device used to check the insulation .
A megger is used to test the resistance of high voltage cables, insulation and motor windings. The test employs a megohm meter.
The resistance of a motor winding is expressed in
There are many factors that determine what the leakage current will be. You could find out what the insulation winding resistance of the new motor should be and use the 660 volts and Ohm's law to calculate the current. If you measure this using a DC insulation tester however it probably will not yield an exact measurement since the test is not under normal operating conditions, but is a DC voltage test. To get the best measurement you really need to test the motor under operation and use a leakage clamp on the ground connection to see what the current really is since other factors come into play such as the insulation resistance, imbalance and frequency. An example of a tool would be the Fluke 1630 or Fluke 360.

Resistance. Water has a lot of resistance.
