Roosevelt elk are sometimes known as Olympic elk and they are the largest of the big game animals. A mature bull may weigh as much as 1,000 pounds or even more, but on the average they will weigh much less. Both male and female elk have a dark-colored neck mane. Antlers of the males are heavy, and tend to rise straighter and with much less spread than antlers of the Rocky Mountain elk

Non-typical that scored 502 2/8 SCI, taken in Idaho in 2005, but there is some speculation to this. Boone and Crockett shows their legitimate record as a non-typical taken at Upper Arrow Lake in British Columbia in 1994. It scores 465 2/8.

It's likely the largest elk ever seen (but probably remained unverified) weighed around 1000 lbs. A bull elk that size would've likely had an impressive rack of antlers as well that would be any hunter's envy.
