Generally, it would be pounds or kilograms. But if it is a small kitten, or a really skinny cat, it would be ounces.

Weight = Customary units = pounds

remember weight is gravity dependent

Mass = Metric Units = kilograms

remember mass is not gravity dependent

Also be specific with your question. I would not have know what parameter you wanted to measure if the categories under the question did not specify "weight and mass". Unit of measure is parameter specific. (i.e. mL or fl oz for volume, cm or in for length, gram or oz for mass/weight...etc)

By strict definition, the gram is a mass unit, not a force or weight unit, but people use it as a weight unit anyway. It is possible due to the direct relation between mass and weight near the surface of the earth.
