The imaginary line connecting the North and South poles is the prime meridian.

Meridian

The straight line between the poles is the Earth's axis of rotation.

The curved lines between the poles and along the surface are the meridians

of longitude.
There are a number of such lines and all of them are imaginary. If you observe the Earth from space, none of these actually exist:

1. The axis upon which the Earth rotates passes through the North and South poles (but not the magnetic poles).

2. The Prime Meridian (0 degrees longitude), unlike the axis that can be conceptualized at the center of the Earth, passes across the surface of the Earth. It defines the "starting point" (0 degrees) for the arbitrary partitioning of the Earth into 360 degrees of longitude.

3. The International Date Line is parallel to but on the opposite side of the planet from the Prime Meridian (it's close to 180 degrees longitude). This line segregates one day from another (with "day" being the arbitrary date that humans establish, not something like a sidereal day).
axis its the axis
Every meridian of constant longitude joins the north and south poles,

but doesn't run through them.
The imaginary line about which the Earth roates is called the axis. (The Earth's axis is tilted in relation to the plane of its orbit.)
The axis line of the Earths spin.
The meridian

The Axis
Going vertically is the Greenwich Meridian , going horizontally is the Equator , Latitude lines go the way the Equator goes ( east to west , west to east ) , Longitude lines go the way the Greenwich Meridian goes ( north to south , south to north ) .

The pole is going through Earth because it shows what angle Earth is.

axis
The Axis
Every meridian of constant longitude joins the north and south poles,

but doesn't actually run in either particular direction.
The imaginary lines running from the north pole to the south pole are lines of longitude. Longitude is measured in degrees east or west of the Prime Meridian at Greenwich, England.

Imaginary lines equally spaced at right angles to the longitude lines are lines of latitude. Latitude is measured in degrees north or south of the Equator.

Together, the latitude and longitude lines give us a grid coordinate system used for describing a position on the Earth.
the longitude lines
Every meridian of constant longitude, including the Prime Meridian, is an imaginary

line that joins the North Pole and South Pole, along the Earth's surface.

The imaginary line that joins the poles directly through the center of the Earth is

the planet's axis of rotation.

Lines of Longitude.

Those encircling the Earth parallel to the Equator are of Latitude.

Lines of Longitude. Those parallel to the Equator are the Lines of Latitude.
