According to current statistics:
At birth: 1.05 males to every 1.0 females
Under the age of 15: 1.04 males for every 1.0 female
Between 15 and 64 years: 1.0 male for every 1.0 female.
Over 64 years: 0.76 males for every 1.0 female
In short, the statistics start with a male ratio which is slightly above the female ratio. Between adolescence and retirement ages the ratios are equal; after retirement women out live (and out number) the men by about 25%.
