Best Answer

24/40

When reducing a fraction, we look to see if either number has a common factor. Since 24' and '40' are even numbers ( end 4 & 0) the will reduce by '2'

Hence

24/40 = 12 /20

Similarly for '12' & '20' it will reduce by '2'

12/20 = 6/10

Similarly for '6' & '10' . it will reduce by '2'

6/10 = 3/5 This will not reduce any further since '3' & '5' are prime numbers

Hence 24/40 = 3/5

However, if you know your multiplication tables, you should see that both '24' & '40' are multiples of '8' and will directly reduce by dividing through by '8'.
