All linear equations of the form y = mx + b, where m and b are real-valued constants, are functions.

A linear equation of the form x = a, where a is a constant is not a function.

Functions must be one-to-one. That means each x-value is paired with exactly one y-value.

Similarities between graphical and simplex methods?

both are used to solve linear programming problems

What similarities and differences do you see between functions and linear equations studied in Ch 3 Are all linear equations functions Is there an instance in which a linear equation is not a funct?

Assuming you work with two variables (like x and y) only: if the graph is a vertical line, e.g. x = 5, then it is not a function. Otherwise it is.

What is the difference with a linear and nonlinear scale?

The differences between the these two is that linear scale shows the relation between the map distance and the ground distance. The nonlinear scale do not show the relation between the map distance and the ground distance.

What kind of research is needed to identify relationships between variables but does not determine cause and effect?

Correlation. It will merely determine whether or not there is a linear relationship between the variables. However, the absence of correlation is not absence of a relation - only that the relationship is not linear. For example, if you take any set of points that are symmetrically placed about a vertical axis - such as from a circle, ellipse or parabola, or parts of a sine or cosine curve - then the correlation will be 0. But, the fact that these are well-defined curves clearly implies a very definite [non-linear] relationship.

Angle between intanceous and linear velocity?

The answer could depend on what you mean by "intanceous". The word is not recognised and I cannot guess what it was meant to be.

What is the difference between a linear quadratic and a quadratic quadratic?

There is no quadratic equation that is 'linear'. There are linear equations and quadratic equations. Linear equations are equations in which the degree of the variable is 1, and quadratic equations are those equations in which the degree of the variable is 2.

What are some common mathematical relationships encountered in physics?

quadratic, inverse, linear

What is the difference between a linear and quadratic function?

A linear function is a line where a quadratic function is a curve. In general, y=mx+b is linear and y=ax^2+bx+c is quadratic.

What is the difference between linear and quadratic equations?

A linear equation has the form of mx + b, while a quadratic equation's form is ax2+bx+c. Also, a linear equation's graph forms a line, while a quadratic equation's graph forms a parabola.

When can you use linear quadratic functions?

There are linear functions and there are quadratic functions but I am not aware of a linear quadratic function. It probably comes from the people who worked on the circular square.

What is the relation quadratic equation to linear equation?

The derivative of a quadratic function is always linear (e.g. the rate of change of a quadratic increases or decreases linearly).

Is 2x-5 equals 0 Linear or Quadratic?

Linear.

What is quadratic linear function?

It is a quadratic equation that normally has two solutions

Is 3x plus 27 equals 8 a quadratic function?

No it is a linear one. X^2 = quadratic, x = linear. So if the equation doesn't have an x squared, then it is not quadratic.

Is y equals x2 plus 4 a linear equation?

It is linear in y, quadratic in x. Generally, that would be considered a quadratic.
