xy=36 and x+y=-13

From first equation, if x is not equal to 0, y=36/x

then x+y = x + 36/x = -13

then x2 +36 = -13x or x2 +13 x + 36 =0

Delta = (132) - 4 x 1 x 36 = 25 = 52

So x=(-13±sqrt(25))/2=(-13±5)/2 so x=-4 or x=-9

As y=36/x then y=-9 or y=-4

The solutions are (x=-4,y=-9) or (x=-9,y=-4)
