density is mass / volume.

pour the water into a measuring clyinder, weigh it on scales then minus the weight of the empty clyinder. Divide the mass by the volume and you'll get the density.

A set of scales!

Mass is measured in kg and we measure it in science using a top-hand balance.

Obviously using a liquid you will have to place a vessel on top, tare the balance and then pour in your liquid to measure it.

If the liquid you are measuring is water then things are far easier. 1ml of water = 1g of water.

Volume of liquids are measured in ml and mass in kg.

Remember mass is just the amount of "stuff" contained within a substance.

Weight = Gravity acting upon the Mass of matter.

How can we calculate the density of a irregular solid or a liquid?

You can dip the irregular solid in a water or other suitable liquid. This is how, you can measure the volume of the solid. The mass can be measured by weighing scale. Mass/volume = density. It is easy to measure the mass and volume of the liquid. First measure the mass the container. Then add the liquid to it. You will get the mass of the liquid. Then measure the volume of the liquid. Use the above formula to calculate the density of the liquid.

Can we use a hydrometer to measure the density of milk?

Yes, we can use hydrometer to measure the density of milk. Explanation Hydrometer is a device which is used to measure the density of a liquid. Hydrometers are calibrated for different uses, such as a lactometer for measuring the density (creaminess) of milk, a saccharometer for measuring the density of sugar in a liquid, or an alcoholometer for measuring higher levels of alcohol in spirits

What type of tool would you use to find the volume of a liquid?

Measure the container itself, or measure the mass of the liquid and the container and find the density of that certain liquid has and isolate for the volume.

What does a hydometer measure?

It measures liquid density

Why do you have to measure the mass before determining the density?

You have to measure mass before determining density because of the equation D=M/V. If you are somehow unable to find the mass, you can always use an inverse of the equation if you have the measurements of volume and density, which would equal M=DxV.ANS2:You don't need to know the mass if you can measure the object's buoyancy in a liquid whose density is known. For instance: If 10% of an object protrudes from the surface of a liquid with the density of 1g/cm3 (water at 4 deg C) then you know that the density of the object is 10% less than the density of that liquid.

Name one different technique that could be used to obtain the density of a liquid?

- measure the mass and the volume; calculate the density - use a classical densimeter - use a modern (but expensive) oscillating densimeter

How do you find the density of an irregular shaped object that sinks?

Measure the volume of the object which is same as the volume of the displaced liquid in which that sinks. And measure the mass of the same object from a weighing machine. then use density = mass/volume

What is a measure of whether an object floats or sinks in a gas or liquid?

Density!!

How do you find the density of a liquid?

To find the density of a liquid, you must find its mass and volume. To find the mass, use a triple beam balance, put the liquid into a container, weigh it, subtract the weight of the container, and that is how to get the mass. Then, to find the volume, use a graduated cylinder, put the liquid into the container, and then find the mark where the liquid line lands, and that is your volume. Then, divide your mass by your volume, and there is your density in grams per centimeter cubed (g/cm3).

What is the tool used to find the density of a liquid?

Hydrometer is used in batteries to measure density. A float tells you the density using displacement.

How do you measure a liquid?

To measure the volume of a liquid, you can use a graduated cylinder.
