If you have the diameter and height of a cylindrical substance, first halve the diameter to get the radius. Then square this radius, multiply by the height and multiply by pi. The height and the radius must both be measured in the same units, e.g. metres.

Pi is equal to 3.14159265358979..... Most people use 3.14, and there is a pi button on most calculators (π).

What is the volume of a substance with 3 inch diameter and half inch height?

The volume of a cylinder is πr2h. r is the radius, which is half the diameter, which is 1.5 inches, and h is the height, which is 0.5 inches. Thus, the volume of the cylinder is 3.534291735 inches cubed.

How do you find the diameter a the cylindeer base if you know the height and volume?

Volume = Pir2 X height Diameter = 2r Pi = 3.1416 Solve for diameter Volume/height = 3.1416(diameter/2)2 (square root of (Volume/height/3.1416)) X 2 = diameter of the cylinder base

If you know the diameter of a cylinder how do you find the volume and height?

height has to be given. or volume. volume of a cylinder is v = (pi r ^2) h or diameter times height.

If the volume of a cylinder is known how do you find the height and diameter of the cylinder?

You cannot determine the height and diameter from just the volume because there is an almost infinite number of combinations of height and diameter that could create a particular volume.

Calculate the diameter of a cylinder whose height is the same as its diameter and whose volume is 220cm?

Volume = Height * Area of Circle Area of Circle = pi*(Diameter/2)^2 Height = Diameter Volume = Diameter*(pi*(Diameter/2)^2) Volume = (pi/4)*Diameter^3 Diameter = (4/pi) * Volume ^ (1/3) Diameter = (4/3.14)*220^(1/3) ≈ 6.54 cm
