Strictly speaking an area cannot equal a perimeter because an area is a two dimensional concept while a perimeter is one dimensional. A shape can have the same number for its perimeter and its diameter but then thanks to the dimensionality of these measures, this is totally dependant on the units of measurement used.

For example a 4m * 4m square has an area of 16 m2 and a perimeter of 16 m. So far so good.

But the same shape could be describes as a 400cm * 400 cm square. Now area = 160000 cm2 while perimeter = 1600 cm.

Or, 13.1234 ft*13.1234 ft giving an area of 172.2226 square ft and a perimeter of 52.4934 ft.

So, through appropriate choice of the unit of measurement, the area and perimeter of any shape can be made numerically equal.

What is the area and perimeter of a square if the side equal 10cm?

Perimeter = 40cm. Area = 100cm2

Which of the squares has an area that is equal to its perimeter?

A square that measures 4 per side. Perimeter = L + L + L + L = 4L = 4*4 = 16 Area = L * L = 4*4 = 16 Although technically they won't be equal since perimeter has units of length, while area has units of squared length.

True Or False Is The perimeter of a polygon is the number of square units contained in its interior?

The perimeter of a polygon is not generally equal to the number of square units contained in its interior, which is the definition of the area of the polygon, not of its perimeter. By coincidence, the area and perimeter of a square four units on each side have the same magnitude, 16, but the perimeter is 16 units and the area is 16 square units .

What is the relation between perimeter and triangle area?

If you double (2 times) the perimeter the area will will be 4 times larger. Therefore the area is proportional to the square of the perimeter or the perimeter is proportional to the square root of area. The relationship as shown above applies only to triangles with similar proportions, that is when you scale up or down any triangle of fixed proportions. Other than that requirement, there is no relationship between perimeter and area of any shape of triangle except that it can be stated that the area will be maximum when the sides are of equal length (sides = 1/3 of perimeter).

What is the perimeter of 1 hectar?

A square area equal to 1 hectare will have each side equal to 100 meters. So the perimeter distance would be 400 meters (100m for each of the four sides).

Why does the greatest area equal the greatest perimeter?

Because area is a function of perimeter.

Is area always more or equal to the perimeter in a square?

The area of a square is equal to twice the square's perimeter.

Which rectangle has the greatest area for a fixed perimeter?

The greatest area for a fixed perimeter will be when all the sides are equal or when the rectangle approaches the shape of a square.

What is the perimeter of a square that has an area of 81 meters square?

36, area is equal to length X width, perimeter is equal to 2(length)+2(width) in a square length is equal to width, so we take the square root of the area to find that both are 9, which means the perimeter is 9 X 4, 36.

Why the area and the perimeter of a figure can never be equal?

The area and perimeter cannot be equal because the perimeter is a linear measure while an area is a square measure. However, it is perfectly possible for them to have the same numerical value. For example, a 3cm by 6 cm square has a perimeter of 2*(3+6) = 18 cm and an area or 3*6 = 18 sq cm.

What is the area of a square with a perimeter of 28?

Squares have 4 equal sides. So lets set x equal to one of the sides of the square. x = one side of the square The perimeter of a square is the distance around the outside. This is equal to the sum of the lengths of the sides. Because a square has 4 sides the perimeter is as follows 4x = perimeter Solving for x in this case gives you 7. The area of any rectangle is equal to the base * height. In a square this means side * side or side2. area = x2 Solving for the area in the case given we find that the area of a square with a perimeter of 28 is equal to 49 units2

Sides of traingle giving equal permeter and area?

I am assuming that "traingle" is meant to be triangle and "permeter" is meant to be perimeter. The area of a triangle cannot be equal to its perimeter because the area is a measure in 2-dimensional space whereas a perimeter is a 1-dimensional measure. So their dimensions will always be different.Furthermore, the area of a triangle is not determined by its perimeter. The area of a triangle can be changed - without affecting its perimeter - simply by changing the angles.

What do you call a rectangle with the same area and perimeter?

Equal or equivalent fits your "clue".
