If it's interior angle is a factor of 360 then it will tessellate such as a square, a regular hexagon and an equilateral triangle.

Do polygons always have equal length sides?

Not necessarily. The definition of a polygon is a closed figure with straight lines and no curves. A "regular" polygon has to have equal side-lengths, such as a regular hexagon or a regular octagon.

What is the interior sum of an octagon?

The sum of the interior angles of a regular polygon is found with the formula: (n-2)180. For a regular octagon with 8 sides, the sum of the interior angles would be: (8-2)180 = 1080 degrees. This only works for regular polygons whose sides and angles are congruent.
