Cassius and Marcus Brutus are part of the conspiracy to kill Ceasar for the good of Rome. Brutus used to be Caesar's best friend but betrayed him by helping to kill him. Cassius was also part of the killing of Cassius. In the end in the battle of Phillipi, Brutus and Cassisu join forces to fight against Marc Antony and his troops.
Publius Servilius Casca Longus and his brother Gaius Servilius Casca participated in the assassination of Julius Caesar despite their family being loyal to Caesar and the two of them being close friends of his. At the time of the assassination Publius was a plebeian tribune. He was the one who stroke first, stabbing Caesar superficially in the neck from behind. Caesar was stabbed 23 times. It was the second stab (in the chest) which killed him.
Marcus Junius Brutus, together with Gaius Cassius Longinus, was the leader of the assassination plot. He was a senator who belonged to the optimate (conservative faction) which opposed Julius Caesar and his popularis (populist) faction. When Caesar's civil war started he joined Pompey the Great, the leader of the forces which fought against Caesar. After a defeat in battle, Caesar pardoned him, took him in his inner circle and made him governor of Gaul. Caesar then nominated him to serve as praetor, the second highest executive office in Rome, for the year in which he was assassinated.
Casca was the first conspirator to stab Caesar, he told Cassius and Brutus about what had happened in the collesuem.
