Frenchman Christophe Lemaitre, who ran the 100m in 9.98 seconds on 9 July 2010, becoming the first white man ever to break the 10 second barrier.
yes, true! and his record, brief as it is, shows a consistency no other white man has ever shown.
His top runs, all easily wind legal, are 9.98, 10.02,10.03, 10.04,10.05 10.09x3, show his class.
All were run between 19 years and one month and 20 years and one month of age, so he's also the youngest of all great white sprint talents.
Since this post he has done another 9.98 and a 9.97. He also won the European 100, 200 and 4 x 100 champs. He is European junior 100m record holder and intercontinental cup 100m winner. In short, not only is he the fastest white man ever BUT perhaps even more critically, a real competitor who relishes the challenge.
The average of his top 10 x 100m times now approach 10.02e and can only be expected to improve given his youth
UPDATE (18 Sept 2011): Lemaitre has now posted 9.92/100 and 19.8/200 times. His top 10 average 100 metre runs has dropped to below 10 seconds and he is still just 21 and 3 months old

Interesting question. If you mean has a white man ever held the World record for the 100m then yes. Was the holder faster than a man who was not white - don't know. Yes when African or africanamerican men were not allowed to compete in the Olympics. there was a white man who was the fastest! there will be a white man in the future who will possess the title of the fasted white man in the world. 40 in 4.1 and 100 in 9.875. . which is a accomplishment While there will be man of color 3.99 in 40 and 9.12 in the 100 in the future since Africa is hosting the soccer championship in 2010. in my opinion.
