Man first started counting on his fingers and toes. It is no coincidence that "digit" refers to body parts and numbers. Then came the first real computer, the Abacus. Designed to deal with larger numbers and a mechanical object. The Abacus is thought to have been invented by the ancient Babylonians between 1000 BC and 500 BC.

Yes and no. The abacus is certainly a computing device, but is works so differently from a computer that the argument gets quite philosophical.

Personally I would say no, since the computer is general purpose and the abacus only calculated numbers.

Although that is precisely what a computer does, however it translates numbers to letters, pictures, music, video, etc. So it depends on a philosophical distinction that is only interesting to those of us who enjoy debating such distinctions.

Hey, the world is just not black and white.

The human brain. I know what you are thinking, "How can the brain be the first computer?" Trust me, it just is. the brain works on chemical impulses which some believe its a drug effect as the brain is a natural computer. among the fact that everything in nature works in chemicals. the chemicals simulate your conscious similar to the olfactory nerve . so basically the entire mind is "a trip" so to speak. the drugs form weaker forms and are felt like light in your eyes. the palette of senses make the instances of drug.

The abacus was not invented by a Filipino; it was first recorded, well before that area was even properly settled, in many ancient civilisations earlier than 500 BCE, and in Mesopotamia before 2000 BCE. The abacus was likely introduced to the country by traders some time after the 13th century.
