Why did the southern colonies need slaves more than the northern colonies?

They weren't allowed to have them longer, people in the north didn't want them so they didn't have any but they were allowed. When the Articles of Confederation were being made, the colonies met up and discussed what they thought should be added. Many colonies wanted to ban slavery but the southern colonies demanded they keep it or they threatened to leave.

The north was more advancements in technology and skilled laborers where as the south was mostly farm fields and giant plantations that needed to be planted and harvested. Very easy work but took a long time and was tedious and repetitive, which made it the perfect suit for a slave.
