It doesn't, (-2)2 = 4.

To see this, consider the -2 times table, going down from 3:

-2 x 3 = -6

-2 x 2 = -4

-2 x 1 = -2

-2 x 0 = 0

-2 x-1 = ?

What should the '?' be?

As the multiplier reduces by one, the answer increases by 2, so the next answer will be another increase of 2, ie 0+2=2, and so on:

-2 x-1 = 2

-2 x-2 = 4

-2 x-3 = 6

A square is a rectangle. A square is a rectangle with equal sides. A rectangle Has to have 4 right angles (and only 4 corners). A Square has the same definition (4 right angles, and only 4 corners) but all the sides have to be equal. A square is not a rhombus. A rhombus is a parallelogram with equal sides. The equal sides must be parallel.) but all the sides have to be equal lengths.
