12/15 is read as 12 divided by 15. Since 15 is larger than 12, it does not divide evenly into a whole number, so it will be a decimal. This means you will have to add a zero to the end of 12, making 120, and adding a 0. to the quotient. Since 15 goes into 120 8 times, the answer will be 0.8.
