Because in the US it is considered that 1,000 x 1,000 should be called one billion, whereas in the UK it is considered that 1,000 x 1,000 should be called one thousand thousands, and that 1,000 x 1,000 x 1,000 should be called one billion.

Surely 1,000,000,000 is one thousand million 1,000,0000 = one million, 10,000,000 = ten million, 100,000,000 = one hundred million. 1,000,000,000 = one thousand million, 10,000,000,000, = ten thousand million, 100,000,000,000 = one hundred thousand million, So 12 zeros is one billion 1,000,000,000,000
