How long since last tune-up and compression check? Fouled plugs or dirty valve seats (even a burnt vavle) will cause misfire and lack of acceleration (power).
You can find almost anything you need to know about the V Star 1300's engine misfire here; http://forums.delphiforums.com/vstar1300t/messages?msg=149.1
You may need to replace your battery.
Misfire can be caused by any condition that doesn't allow for full combustion in an engine. You don't specify what engine you have in your Ranger, but look for things common to both cylinders. Are they on the same ignition coil? Are they next to each other on the engine? Causes can be almost anything, from a bad spark plug to a mechanical fault in the engine itself. I cover this information in my upcoming book Automotive Driveablity: A Guide to Engine Performance Diagnosis. Feel free to visit me at www.autoservicetech.com. I also recently wrote an article on misfire diagnosis for MotorAge magazine that will be listed on my home site soon.
The key is almost never the problem, there is a halo ring around ignition and module in dash that are usually the problem- you need an auto locksmith to test them
Brakes can be replaced at almost any maintenance center car shop or place with a certified mechanic. You can even do it yourself if desired, and you have the tools.
Occasionally and intermittently both mean sometimes.
The ignition is deceptively complex inside, your best bet is to call a locksmith to repair it.
Misfire on Cylinder 6 would mean replacing the spark plug (less than $5) or coil (about $80). Cylinder 6 is on the front. (easier to reach than #1, 2, and 3). This is usually just a bad plug, but could be due to water in your spark plug hole or in the gas. If it only happened one time, there is probably no need to worry unless it occurs again repeatedly. If so, you should troubleshoot your ignition system and perhaps the fuel injector for that cylinder. Keep in mind that since it only occured on cylinder #6, it would not be caused by anything that would effect the other cylinders, say for instance low voltage or a bad fuel pump. If A Coil Is Bad You Will Also Get An Overtemp Code. Along With The Misfire Code, almost never is this a bad plug unless someone just replaced their own plugs and have the gap messed up or the wrong plug in the engine.
Replace your steering dampner. Mine did the same thing.
Sometimes. Almost never!!
take it to a dealer, man. my friend tried changing his and fried his ignition system. dealership cosy about $500 to replace. but cost my friend almost $2000 to fix his attempt
Time for an IGNITION switch
