rubber seal around the opening on the hood is loose and preventing the sunroof from moving down and sliding open.

My sunroof on my 99 Plymouth neon only budjes up then down?
Need to know what the problem is. leaking? not opening? etc. I had a similar problem with my neon. The track guides are very fragile and break often. There is just a wire cord that pushes and pulls on the guide to open and close the sunroof and the attachment breaks easily. the only fix is to replace the guide. The only place i have found new guides is at http://www.sunroofdoctor.com/9799neon.htm

Battery been disconnected lately? Service work done? Sounds like the memory needs reset. Hold the open button down until it opens fully, then hold the close button down till it is fully closed. The light should now turn solid red or green depending on what mode it is in. Green is to autoshut when vehicle is shut down. Red is to override autoshut and stay open with vehicle off.

There are two little hydraulics at the front of your sunroof. One on the left and one on the right. They sit at about a 45 degree angle. Take something like a window scraper, that's what I use and push on the backside of the hydraulic. It will push in and you will feel your sunroof go down slightly. Do the same thing to the other side. Get out of your car and you should then be able to push the sunroof the rest of the way down from outside of the car. Note: If it doesn't push down easy don't force it or you will break the glass.
