in xy coordinate system the direction is usually represented by tanget its just becoz of tht the ratio of tangent is from perpendicular to base so it involves both of the related components

Is the direction of the electric force on a charge is tangent to the field line?

yes,the direction of electric force on a charge is tangent of field lines.

How is tangent used in life?

When an object is in orbit of another, its direction can be determined by drawing a tangent along its orbit.

How do you relate tangent graph with the math error in calculation of direction of resultant vector?

The tangent function will generate a calculator "math error" if the angle in questin is ±90 degrees. For these angles, the tangent function is not defined.

Is cos function and pythagorean theroem used to calculate the magnitude and direction of the resultant vector?

No. The "resultant vector" will be in rectangular coordinates (x and y coordinates). You indeed use the Pythagorean theorem to calculate its magnitude. For the direction, however, you use the arc-tangent of (y / x). Since different angles have the same tangent, you also have to take into account the quadrant of the angle. For example, if both x and y are negative, then you have to add 180 degrees (or pi radians) to the angle which your calculator gives you. You can save yourself all this trouble by using the rectangular-to-polar conversion, available on most scientific calculators. Check your calculator's manual for details.

Why vector is staight not a curve?

Because a vector contains information about the direction. A direction, at any particular position is the tangent to the curve and this, by definition, must be straight.

In maths what is a tangent and what is a chord?

Tangent:In geometry, the tangent line (or simply the tangent) is a curve at a given point and is the straight line that "just touches" the curve at that point. As it passes through the point where the tangent line and the curve meet the tangent line is "going in the same direction" as the curve, and in this sense it is the best straight-line approximation to the curve at that point.Chord:A chord of a curve is a geometric line segment whose endpoints both lie on the outside of the circle.

What does the slope of the tangent to the curve on a velocity-time graph measure?

it measures the magnitude of acceleration, but it can't tell you the direction of the acceleration.

What does a tangent to a velocity-time graph measure?

It will measure acceleration in the direction towards or away from the origin.

Why is velocity tangential to the path of a body?

Velocity is a vector; having direction. So, when changing direction constatly to have velocity a tangent can be drawn to the constantly changing path of the object having velocity.

Can you have a slope of 0?

Yes. Slope = rise/run (or in calculus, the derivative, often denoted dy/dx). A slope of zero indicates there is no rise, i.e., a horizontal line (or in the case of a curve, the tangent line at a given point is horizontal).

What is a common tangent?

A common tangent is a line which is tangent to two (or more) curves.
