What can be the largest possible remainder if the divisor in a given division problem is 48?

The remainder is the number that is left over after the initial value has been divided as much as it can. If any numbers greater than 48 were present as a remainder, then these could be divided further into 48. If 48 is present as the remainder, then this can be divided by 48 to give 1, leaving no remainder. Thus, the largest possible remainder if the divisor is 48 is 47.

What is the greatest 4 digit number which is exactly divisible by 40 48 and 60?

First we need to find the L.C.M. of 40, 48 and 60. 40 = 2x2x2x5 48 = 2x2x2x2x3 60 = 2x2x3x5 After taking out common factors, we have L.C.M. = 2x2x2x3x5x2 = 240 To find the greatest 4 digit number which is divisible by 240 we divide 9999 by 240. Remainder = 159 Subtracting this remainder from 9999 we get 9999 - 159 = 9840. So, the required answer is 9840.

How do you find the percentage of two numbers?

A good example of this is like a test score. For example you get 47 out of 48 on your math test and want to figure out what percent that is so you can show off to your buddies in your class. You simply take 47 and divide by 48 and multiply by 100. Like this: (47/48) x 100 = 97.91666666666666666.... % or rounded as 97.92% A general way to think about this is take the amount you have, and divide it by the total amount, and then multiply by 100.
