You need one sperm and one egg to reproduce.

An egg fertilizes the egg, inside of a woman.

Think of it as two halves to a whole. The woman has fifty percent of the necessary genes in her egg, and the man has the other fifty percent.

Mixing one sperm and another can't make a baby, nor can one egg and another.

Sperm are male gametes and eggs are female gametes. In mammals sperm are small and mobile while eggs are large and cannot move (by themselves). Four sperm cells are produced by spermatogenesis while only one egg is produced by oogenesis.

also, sperm cells are known as the "xy" genes and eggs are known s the "xx" genes. during intercourse, a female will always give a "x" and the dad will give out a "y" or a "x". if its "xx", its a girl.if its a "xy", its a male.

Are sperm cells made by meiosis?

Sperm cells are essentially produced by the meiosis. So that you have half the chromosomes in the sperm cell.

What are the main functions of meiosis?

The main function of meiosis is to produce gametes, which are the egg and sperm cells. These cells have half of the number of chromosomes that are in a normal body cells.

What process is used to produce sperm cells and egg cells?

The cell is produced in the Testes, in a process called Meiosis what is meiosis?

How many active sperm cells are produced by males in meiosis?

Meiosis produces four active sperm cells.

What type of cells make gametes by meiosis?

Gametes are the haploid sex cells. In humans, the sperm and eggs.

Sperm and egg cells result from a special type of cell division called?

Sperm and egg cells are the result of meiosis.

The process in which reproductive cells are formed is called?

Meiosis is the division of a cell into eventually 4 daughter cells containing half the number of original chromosomes such as sperm and egg cells.

What is the number of chromosomes each gamete receives after meiosis?

The end result of meiosis is haploid daughter cells with chromosomal combinations different from those originally present in the parent. In sperm cells, four haploid gametes are produced.

What is the function of the cells made from meiosis?

The product of meiosis are sex cells or gametes 1N, Eggs, Sperm and pollen. Because of meiosis, and crossing over, these cells are genetically unique. Consequently, the union of these sex cells (egg and sperm) form new and different combinations and therefore allow for variation and change within a species.

Could the resulting cells of mitosis be sperm cells?

No. Sperm cells (spermatozoa) are gametes and are the result of meiosis.

Is the union of egg and sperm mitosis or meiosis?

Neither. The union of a sperm and egg is called fertilization. Both sperm and egg cells are sex cells that are produced through meiosis.

Which cells are known NOT to do mitosis?

gametic (sperm or egg) cells do not carry out mitosis, instead they carry out meiosis. Mitosis gives a diploid number of chromosomes to each cell, meiosis gives a haploid number.
