Math is analytic, a priori and can be done in a classroom or at home and deals with numbers. Science is descriptive, analytic and a posteriori, it deals with the natural world, usually it is conducted in a lab or by observing the natural world. Science also uses math to make predictions that can then be further empirically tested.

Some people consider math a kind of science.

A priori= prior to experience or observation (testing)

A posteriori= After experience or testing

For the same reason that people hate most things:

  • They do not understand them.
  • Science has a nasty habit of contradicting folk wisdom.
  • Like musical skills, both subjects require a fair amount of effort to learn the basics before you can have fun with them.
  • The subjects are often taught by teachers that don't like or understand them.
  • There is a degree of anti-intellectualism loose in the world - math and science fans are labeled as nerds.

The acute difference between science and math is that math is more of applying rules and methods to solve a problem, while science is more of memorizing different concepts and vocabulary that is related to a topic.

This can be both true and false. Science and business both require a strong foundation in mathematics. However, just because you love numbers and find computing and solving problems to be easy and fun, doesn't mean you'll necessarily love science or business.

Science branches off into many fields, if you love mathematics, try Physics. Physics is a heavy math course, while Biology is not. Chemistry is both.

Business also branches off into many fields, administrative business may not be mathematics oriented, however, economics & business statistics will.
