Math isn't especially "hard", but it is objective: most of the time in math, an answer is either right or it isn't. There's not a lot of room for "well, you tried hard". This may result in it being perceived as "hard" when it's really just ... unforgiving of errors.
It should be noted that in advanced math, there is room for things being "not exactly right, but not exactly wrong either"; Goedel's Incompleteness Theorem is a formal proof that in any sufficiently developed system of mathematics there are things that cannot definitively be proven to be either true OR false. However, you'll need to wade through a number of years of arithmetic, algebra, and calculus before you get to that stage.

Neither, History is. It all depends how you define hard and what you're good at. To some people History is dead easy, but Math and Science are both hard whereas to me Maths is dead easy, science not quite so but History is hard.
