None of the planets ever cared whether Newton was even alive. To them,
he had no significance or influence whatsoever. But he did write the first
formula for the force of gravity, and it explained almost exactly why the
planets move the way they do.

∙ 10y agoIsaac newton discovered the law of gravity and the laws of motion. He also discovered differential calculus (Leibnitz also discovered that in Germany). Newton was able to use the three theories to show that the gravitational force of the Sun is what keeps the planets in the orbits that Kepler had discovered from measurements by Tycho Brahe.
It led to a very precise mathematicl model of the solar system that was eventually used to predict the presence of Neptune before it was discovered.
