The Southern economy was centred on agriculture, particularly the cultivation of cotton. This industry was very labor intensive and the farmers couldn't afford to hire workers so black slaves were cheap labor.

In the North the predominant industry was manufacturing which did not require slave labor.

The southern colonies depended more because, New England or The Middle Colonies didn't think it was fair to have slaves and they could do everything themselves. New England and The Middle Colonies were more independent and not L A Z Y !

because New England did not need as many workers since they had fewer fields. the south needed workers for the cotton farms and such so they all agreed to make the blakes do it for free.

actually, the New England colonies didn't have good soil to grow anything. the new England colonies relied more on fishing and lumber industries to make their money. the southern colonies had good farmland and growing seasons were long, so they needed the slaves(mostly africans) to do the work.

New England soil was bad for farming, and New England was industrial. They had little to no need for slaves, so they had a small slave population. Southern soil was perfect for huge plantations which depended on slave labor to be profitable. The South had an enormous slave population.

The Pledge Of Allegiance includes that we are "One nation under God". People from the northern states Obeying this as the words really mean. Yet ones in the south wanted to try and over control anyone else that they could.

The Bible permitted slavory for a certain length of time, for the person that owed money and could not pay it, would be a slave for up to seven years. Then they would be set free.

Why were there more slaves in the southern colonies than in the MIddle colonies and new England?

There was more slaves in the southern colonies than in the Middle colonies and New England because they didn't think it was right to have slaves and they had mostly everything that they needed and could do it by themselves.REKLAWthe reasons why there were most slaves in the south than middle is because the southern economy ran on slavery, the souths depended on slavery to do the work which made them richer.the southern slaves had no freedom, but the north slaves could buy their way out of slavery and can only work on weekdays.
